BASH OR BUY? RIMMEL LONDON STAY MATTE FOUNDATION

I have recently been on a HUGE drugstore haul, I’m a sucker for big name brands like MAC and Bobbi Brown ect..but since I’m having a baby I have started to build up a “drug store” or pharmacy collection of makeup especially foundation. I need to save money!
One of these buys was the Rimmel London “STAY MATTE” liquid mousse foundation. It has a huge following behind it and I really wanted to see what all the fuss about it was! As I’m in LOVE with Rimmel Londons “WAKE ME UP” foundation I had High expectations!
Rimmel Londons claim for this foundation is ” Lightweight, shine control, feather light, liquid mousse blends flawlessly for natrual looking, all day shine control. Silky smooth formula leaves a perfectly matte, baby soft finish. Lightweight texture won’t feel heavy or greasy.”
This foundation comes in 5 shades so it’s not very versatile and doesn’t cater to all skin tones so that’s not great.

These are very big claims, but I’m a sucker for new brands and especially at the moment I’m loving pocket friendly beauty! So coming in at €7.95 in boots stores (I got mine in penny’s for €6.55 ) it’s a definite bargain buy which is PERFECT for those savers or even just a foundation to run down to the shops in.
The packaging is quite simple just small little tube with the name of the brand and the product name on the front with a small little claim, and then it has a cute purple lid, it’s basic it’s easy for your makeup bag and easily transportable which is also great for us!
Upon opening the product I was happy it looked promising, i squeezed a bit out and yes it is a liquid mousse foundation as it states.

When I originally bought the product I was worried about the size as it is a tiny bottle, once I applied it I seen how a little went a long way so it would be worth the buy even at the small cost of €6.55. So applying a small amount onto my face I used my “real techniques” foundation brush to apply it, on application I was quite happy with the way it went onto the skin, it’s not the easiest to apply but it really does feel silky smooth, it has a lightweight texture so I do also agree with this statement.

I honestly don’t think this is a very natural looking foundation, it soaks into my pores and made my skin look terrible when I have quite good skin I get oily in patches but apart from that my skin is quite normal. I wore this then for 4 hours and a friend had pointed out that my skin had gone patchy and looked almost scaly! This product when I first applied it felt great! But after only a short space of time of 4 hours my skin felt greasy and I looked like I was wearing last nights makeup… Not a good look at all!
Only 4 hours after application

I can honestly say that this will be put in the back up foundation collection for those lazy day trips to the shops, but definitely not anything else, unless you can check your face every hour to fix or top up I wouldn’t recommend this, I will not be making the stay matte switch at all. I’m so disappointed especially after all the good reviews I seen on it. Either they were sponsored reviews or the reviewers where just plain mad I don’t know. I love Rimmel London but I have to say that this was such a huge let down.
I BASH THIS PRODUCT!
Have you tried the Rimmel London stay matte liquid mousse foundation? Do you bash it or would you buy it? I’d love to know your opinions so leave your opinion in the comments section or even on my Instagram! @beautyloverdose

BEAUTY FLASH! 10 BEAUTY’S UNDER 20

10 beauty products that will sweep you off your feet ( for under 20 yoyos!)

I’m terribly brand orientated so I’m always reluctant to step out of my comfort zone and try new things, but I’m happy that I have gotten the courage to explore, and explore I did!

This blog post will feature 10 individual products that I have picked up during the week, I will give a brief description of the product and all the info you need to get your paws on them! This week I have been feeling a bit down on myself, pregnant or not we ALL get those days where our jeans are too tight or our makeup just isn’t sitting, and this week it’s been my hair and my clothes, so I went on some retail therapy to cheer myself up.

Boots boots boots my old friend how I’ve missed you so!
Can you guess that I may have popped into boots? Well, I did and I had a field day. So to start off this 10 under 20 product haul I went to nails!

1.
Why not amp up you mani with this CUTE nail polish from “MODELS OWN” it’s perfect for spring/summer with its gorgeous pastel tone, and it comes in a few more different pastel shades, if I didn’t have you at pastel, the nail polish smells.. And I know all polishes smell, but this one is a nice smell, because it’s scented! Yes I said it, scented nail polish that’s pastel. This is in the shade grape juice, and smells like it too! At the perfect price of €6.49 in Boots.

2.
For a flawless finish in all areas of makeup at an unbelievable price for the great quality, as your in boots picking up some pastel scented “MODELS OWN” nail polish, why not zoom over to the accessories section and pick up a 3 for 2 of these amazing “Real TECHNIQUES” brushes. Like I said I took the almighty leap from the high end world to the drugstore world, and I am impressed, using these brushes is like applying your makeup with angel feathers there just gorgeous. So look no further and do not hesitate to buy them, you don’t need to be a professional to achieve a flawless finish, these do it for you!

Bearing in Mind I got these on a 3 for 2 offer in boots I paid, €29.98 for the 3 for 2 but individually they are

RT Stippling Brush €15.99

RT Face Brush €13.29

RT Blush Brush €12.99 (which I got free)

3.
For alluring eyes I marched my way into penny’s/Primark to pick up some makeup from their own brand “P.S LOVE..” I’m giving there brand a try out to see if their dupes no matter how small the price tag is, is worth the buy. With my alluring bargain hunting eyes I spotted their eyelashes that come in three different styles, natrual, sultry and volume, of which I opted for sultry and volume. I tried them both out and I won’t be getting my lashes anywhere else for a while, so I’ll have to stock up! At a whopping €1.50 I’d be stupid not to, the glue that comes with them is great and the lashes are just gorgeous on! GO GO GO!

4.
For a healthy bronzed tan all year round, I recommend hitting up boots or any of your local pharmacist to purchase some St.moriz instant bronzing tanning lotion. Transform your Snow White legs into pins of a golden goddess. For the price you would have no faith in the product because it’s so cheap, but I tired it and I loved it so give it a go.

So here’s the result after is was washed off and moisturised. For €5.99 you can’t go wrong so give it a go as the summer is near you’ll be thanking me.

5.
My next under 20 purchase was a complete impulse buy as there was no LUSH store around me and I WANTED a bath bomb, I waddled my way up to the body shop to see what they could offer me. Going in I wasn’t expecting much as they aren’t known for bath bombs I had a glance around and to my surprise they had bath bombs, not from the body shop but from bomb cosmetics. They had an offer on for 3 for €12 so I couldn’t say no. Knowing that there not from LUSH and nothing really compares to there bath products especially there bath bombs, I didn’t really have high expectations. In saying that I tired one out just to let you all know and I was quite the curious cat. Anyway my verdict is, they do their job, they don’t make bubbles like the lush ones or stink up the room with their gorgeous aroma, but they smell delish and my skin was as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

6.
To set your foundation and give that flawless finish that we all adore, most drug stores/pharmacys sell Rimmel London, I picked my clear completion pressed powder by Rimmel London in boots. This is my all time favourite drugstore powder that I feel is closest to high end brands so I would definitely recommend this powder. It’s translucent which means you don’t need to fuss about matching a colour so you can just apply this white out worry. Boots €5.99

7.
Another nail tastic saving is from Penny’s/Primark, as I have said I’m slowly trying out there PS LOVE brand of makeup. So I picked up this 4 pack of nail varnishes for €2.50 in my local penny’s and tried the varnishes out on my niece, who was incredibly happy that she was getting her nails painted. The varnishes of course are good for their price, nothing special but I’ve had worse and paid more. The downfall for these varnishes is that the polish becomes quite sticky mid application, clearly not great when painting a 2 year olds nails let alone your own. That’s the only bad thing I have to say about them, you get about 2/3 days wear with the polish with minimum chips. They come in lovely vibrant summer colours which is also a plus. So why not?

8.
Back to boots I have been itching to try out some “Sleek” makeup, of complete fluke I found the sleek stand not even aware that boots sold it. Very excited I picked myself up one of their contour pallets which I got in the shade light. I’m so picky on makeup especially when it comes to contouring because some things can just make you look dirty, and let’s face it who would want that! So I am very pleased with my buy from sleek and will definitely be scoping out boots for more of their products.

You can buy sleek at your nearest boots store, and I think superdrug sell it too but I could be wrong. For this purchase I spent €7.99

9.
For the late mornings and lazy nights, or if your just down right lazy, the Vaseline spray and go moisturiser is the moisturiser for you! I can honestly not hype this stuff up enough I am in love! So to give you the lowdown on my chicken skinned legs and bingo wings, I suffer from very dry areas and awful milk spots, which are the spots the tops of your arms and your legs can get which look like lots of red pimples on your arm, not very sexy! Well, I have always had a horror about my little problem and have always hunted for ways to get rid of it, scrubbing layers of skin off with different exfoliaters, and trying out the whole moisturising world I have had no joy….until my auntie introduced me to the Vaseline spray and go. So when I get out of the shower, wet or dry I apply this all over my body. It tells you to rub it in but I don’t, and now my redness or chicken skin as I like to call it is slowly f’ing off like I want it too. So safe to say I’m happy & to make this even better, my skin has never been this soft! I’m SOLD!

So coming round at about €7-€8 for this godsend I will have to tell you to go and buy it, and you can do so at your local, Tesco, sainsburys, asda, super value, boots, pretty much anywhere that sells moisturisers will sell this. So what are you waiting for?

10.
Last but most definitely not least is my brand new fave, THICK AND FAST mascara from soap and glory! Love love love, that’s all I really have to say, it does what it says, it gives you thick lashes very quickly. What else could I tell you, apart from where to get it, which you can purchase this at any boots store & it sells for just a little over €10

That’s it from be my beauty’s, I really hope you enjoyed this and have maybe started a small shopping list? If you already have some of these products I would love your input so let me know what you think down in the comment box. Thank you very much for reading and don’t forget to, LIKE, SHARE, FOLLOW & SMILE! Because it’s all free and it would make me very happy!
